Amelie Bush claims Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round win at Weston Lawns Equitation Centre
Wednesday 03 May 2017
It was a bumper weekend at the Weston Lawns Equitation Centre Pony Premier in Warwickshire with ninety competitors coming forward to contest the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round.
Against strong opposition, each rider was aiming to secure one of the two Horse of the Year Show tickets on offer for this October’s Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final and it came down to just eighteen combinations who fought it out in the final jump off.
Fifteen year-old Amelie Bush from Tadley, Hampshire delivered three consistent and clear rounds to claim top spot on board Ghislaine Macdonnell’s 8 year-old grey gelding, Robin Hood Lad. Over David Cole’s testing course, this pair shook off their competition to leave all the fences standing while knocking 3.23 seconds off the clock to finish in an unbeatable time of 43.64 seconds.
Taking second place was Emelia Mitchell, aged 13, from Saffron Walden, Essex. Emelia rode Jane Gibson’s 12 year-old bay gelding, One Cool Cookie II to a confident treble clear in 46.87 seconds.
The riders and ponies that finished in third to fifth took home the chance to compete in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
