Brits dominate today in Vejer de la Frontera

Sunday 19 March 2017

It was yet another win for Guy Williams at Vejer de la Frontera in Spain this afternoon when he took the Invitational Grand Prix on Depardieu van’t Keizelhof and the lion share of the €100,000 prize fund on offer.  This followed their notable win yesterday of the Small Tour Grand Prix with Casper du Muze.

With a starting field of almost fifty combinations it was only eight that jumped clear in the first round with six of them going on to finish all three rounds on a zero penalty score.  Guy and the 14 year-old eye-catching grey Depardieu put in an unbelievable delivery in the final round to finish clear in a time of 41.28 seconds which was just enough to relegate Fabienne Daigneux-Lange (BEL) into 2nd place with Venue d’Fees des Hazalles.  Dermott Lennon and Loughview Lou Lou finished 3rd in 42.75 seconds whilst Virginie Thonon (BEL) finished 4th in a time of 43.05 seconds.

Another notable result came from Spencer Roe who secured pole position in the Medium Tour Invitation with Chaccomo Agostini an 11 year-old stallion. It was a twenty strong jump-off that chased  the title, however Spencer proved his talent when he guided this big jumping stallion to win 0.54 seconds and prime position in the line-up.

The small tour invitation brought with it a win for Abbe Elliot with Casti Aneira with a time of just 1.36 seconds faster than the nine other combinations that qualified for the jump off.  Ellie Hall McAteer on Kannan, a daughter of Dazzle II took 2nd place.
