Dodson & Horrell 0.95m and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at Chard Equestrian

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Chard Equestrian in Crewkerne, Somerset pulled in fifty-eight keen combinations to compete across the 0.95m and 1.10m Second Rounds.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 19th November, the aim for each rider, two fierce classes of competition ensued.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round

Producing a standout performance in the hotly contested twenty-five horse jump off, Phoebe Sealey from Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset rode her 16 year-old piebald gelding, Santox, straight into first place. This consistent pair stopped the clock on their double clear in an unbeatable 38.18 seconds.

Taking second place was Clare Wilson from Tiverton, Devon on board Kay Curtis’ 15 year-old bay mare, Mellway Precious Rose. This partnership crossed the finish line with a double clear in 39.72 seconds. 

Scooping up third place was Charlotte Pudge from Ledbury, Herefordshire and she posted a double clear in 39.98 seconds on Dizzie Rascal IV, a 12 year-old palomino gelding owned by Georgina Pudge.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round

From an initial starting line-up of twenty five, Rachel Vicary from Crediton in Devon put forward a solid clear round to take her place in the jump off on board Amanda Vicary’s 16 year-old grey gelding, Sparkling Indulgence. From an early draw, this combination held the lead as they posted a lightning fast double clear in 32.23 seconds.

Helen Hughes from near Berkeley, Gloucestershire claimed second place in fine style after posting a double clear on board her own 14 year-old bay mare, Ruxton Contessa.

Rachel continued her good form as she rode Valeur De L’Impermeable, a 12 year-old bay gelding owned by Marysia Orzazewska into third place. This pair posted a double clear in 35.66 seconds.
