Ella Robinson from Northumberland is July’s NAF Shining Star

Thirteen year-old Ella Robinson from Morpeth, Northumberland has been awarded the NAF Shining Star for July for showing great progress in her physical riding ability and theoretical knowledge to Northumberland Academy Lead Coach Philippa McKeever.

“Ella has not only progressed her riding but her theory too. She has spent the last year learning to ride a very challenging pony who put her way out of her comfort zone, but she has worked very hard on control and now has the skill to ride turns and distances accurately. Ella has also developed in the theory side of things and is now always first to answer technical questions and she shows a superb attitude to training” says Philippa. “I really believe Ella deserves this award as she has shown dedication and motivation to get a partnership with her pony, even when she has stayed in the smaller classes and she has seen her peers progressing.”

After finding out she was the winner of July’s NAF Shining Star, Ella said “I feel honoured and pleasantly surprised to have won the award. I could not believe it when my mum told me, I didn’t know I had been nominated!

“I have been part of the academy for a few years now and love getting together with my horsey friends, it’s great to be able to have lessons and training days with them. I loved having the opportunity to go down to Stoneleigh to compete for my area at the National Junior Academy Championships and I am looking forward to representing the area again this year.”

Lisa Field from NAF commented “Congratulations Ella, this month’s Shining Star! It’s great to hear all about the hard work she has put into achieving a great partnership with her pony. This takes a lot of dedication and determination to end up achieving such great results. Well done Ella, all the best for 2019, you deserve it!”

Ella will receive a number of NAF equine products to use alongside the NAF Off Citronella wash and tag and NAF Superflex Senior that she already uses.

The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
