Fraser Reed & Tahnia Jordon Jones Celebrate Successes in the Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifiers at Morris Equestrian Centre

Last weekend’s Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifiers took place at Morris Equestrian Centre in Fenwick, Ayrshire and it was Fraser Reed and Tahnia Jordan Jones who eased ahead of their competitors to collect a win apiece after producing unbeatable performances on board their respective rides. 

Against a starting field of forty-nine hopefuls, each and every rider was vying for a sought after qualification spot for the prestigious Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Championship, which will be held during the British Masters International Horse Show, also at SouthView Equestrian Centre (30th June - 2rd July 2017).

Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifier – Saturday 11th February 2017

Fifteen year-old Fraser Reed made the journey from St Andrews, Fife worthwhile as he stormed to victory following a nail biting two horse jump off. From the initial line up of twenty six, Fraser posted a strong clear on board Barrie Truelove’s 16 year-old bay mare, Quilitymaes Z, to make it through to the first jump off alongside just three other competitors. Posting a further clear round, this pair booked a place in the final jump off. With two talented riders going head to head, the clock was the all-important deciding factor as they produced clears, but it was Fraser and Quilitymaes Z who posted the faster time, crossing the finish line in 45.69 seconds.

Thirteen year-old Shaunie Greig from Dumfermline, Fife scooped up second place on board Anne Greig’s 14 year-old bay gelding, Casino Royale VIII. After matching Fraser Reed clear for clear, this pair narrowly missed out on top spot after finishing just over a second slower in 46.77 seconds.

Third place went to 15 year-old Bobbie Heath from Nantwich, Cheshire and she rode Graham Heath’s 17 year-old bay gelding, Air Flow. Following a first round clear, this pair had an unfortunate pole down in the in the first jump off in a time of 46.74 seconds.  

Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifier Results – Saturday 11th February 2017:

1st Fraser Reed & Quilitymaes Z – 0/0/0 – 45.69 seconds
2nd Shaunie Greig & Casino Royale VIII – 0/0/0 – 46.77 seconds
3rd Bobbie Heath & Air Flow – 0/4 – 46.74 seconds

Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifier – Sunday 12th February 2017

From a keen starting line-up of twenty-three competitors, 14 year-old Tahnia Jordan Jones from Swindon, Wiltshire took home top spot after producing a hat trick of clears. Riding Tania Andrews’ 12 year-old dark bay gelding, AKM Beech Comber, Tahnia was one of seven riders to make it through to the first jump off. Only two riders produced a further clear to go through to the final jump off. Posting another clear in a lightening time of 40.73 seconds, Tahnia & AKM Beech Comber clinched a clear victory.

Fourteen year-old Nicole Lockhead Anderson from Banchory, Aberdeenshire took second place after producing two clear rounds before an unfortunate elimination in the final jump off. Riding Claire Lockhead’s 21 year-old dun gelding, Cappagh Supreme, this pair sailed round the first jump off in 50.06 seconds.  

Third place went to Saturday’s winner, 15 year-old Fraser Reed from St Andrews, Fife and this time he was on board Kilcloghan DG Clover, a 14 year-old bay gelding owned by Graham Heath. This pair finished on four faults in 46.51 seconds.

2nd Nicole Lockhead Anderson & Cappagh Supreme – 0/0/E – 50.06 seconds
3rd Fraser Reed & Kilcloghan DG Clover – 0/4 – 46.51 seconds
