Harriet Williams is July’s NAF Shining Star

Helpful and dedicated Clwyd Junior Academy Member, Harriet Williams, has had the honour of being awarded July’s NAF Shining Star. With all British Showjumping Junior Academy Members eligible for nomination, it is fantastic to see 16 year-old Harriet from Colwyn Bay, Clwyd being recognised for all of her hard work.

Harriet was nominated for the award by Lead Coach Amanda Carpenter “Harriet has been a member of the Clwyd Junior Academy since it began which coincided with her joining British Showjumping three years ago. She has always been a pleasure to have in training; she works hard and has competed all over the country. We have seen Harriet and her pony Cahlerstrane Glass flourish and they are going from strength to strength. She has met some great friends through showjumping and has a fantastic time both out competing and at the academy. She works hard at home, doing everything with her ponies including riding out and exercising as much as she can. Harriet has regularly attended the Academy where she has passed her NAF 3* Pony Award and is working towards her 4*. Taking on the ride of her sisters pony after she sustained a broken leg, Harriet made the most of her last year in ponies having qualified for a number of classes at the British Showjumping National Championships as well as taking her GCSE exams, so it was a very busy time for her and this is a fantastic achievement! Well done Harriet!”

Joining British Showjumping in 2014 after realising her passion for showjumping as a member of The Pony Club, Harriet has really progressed with both her horsemanship and riding with the help of the Clwyd Junior Academy. Upon finding out about the award, an excited Harriet said “I was so pleased to find out I had got this award. This has been a big year for me as it is my last year on ponies and I also took my GCSE’s, so it was really great to have had the support of the academy. Thank you so much.”

Melissa Newman, NAF Brand Manager, commented “It is great to hear that Harriet is so competitive and busy with her pony and academy training; that really does take true dedication. Team work and helping her sister to get back in the saddle is such a valuable skill and will really help her with working towards her NAF 4* Pony Award as well as in the future. Well done Harriet.”

Harriet will kindly receive some NAF equine products to use alongside the supplements that she currently uses.

The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
