John Shaw jumps to victory in KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Dean Valley

Taking the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Dean Valley in Stockport, Cheshire by storm was John Shaw who secured victory with a lightning fast treble clear.

Fifty-five talented combinations came forward to contest for a place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final which is to be held at the British Showjumping National Championships in August. Each competitor was aiming to achieve a sought after treble clear over Gillian Miller’s course as this would secure their qualification place.

Following two action packed rounds, seventeen combinations were left to go forward to the jump off and it was John Shaw from Urmston, Manchester who took first place on board his own 7 year-old grey mare, Hallmark Elan. This pair broke the forty second barrier over the newly shortened course to cross the finish line with all the fences still standing in a time of 39.56 seconds.

Ellen Mcpherson from High Peak, Derbyshire scooped second place riding Lesley Mcroberts’ 5 year-old bay mare Megane Di Cantero. This pair finished with a treble clear in 41.84 seconds.

Third place went to Christina Richardson-Kenyon from Poulton-Le-Fylde, Lancashire riding FVS Stakkato Costa Million, a 4 year-old rose grey gelding owned by Flight View Livery & Stud. This combination delivered their treble clear in 42.08 seconds

With a further nine riders also achieving a treble clear, twelve combinations will now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
