Matilda Lanni finishes 2nd in Opglabbeek Childrens Grand Prix

Matilda Lanni, aged 13 from Peterborough, finished 2nd in the Children’s 1.30m Grand Prix in Opglabbeek, Belgium this afternoon with the 11 year-old bay gelding Newbridges Master Brown owned by Stacey Webb.

Producing one of only three double clears achieved within the competition she put in a superb performance to secure a position high up in the line up for Great Britain.  Stopping the clock on zero penalties in a time of 50.04 seconds it wasn’t quite to catch Pam Nieuwenhuis (NED) on the 7 year-old Vendorlux V who jumped clear in 46.26 seconds, however, it was enough to relegate Charlotte Hoing (GER) into 3rd place with her 7 year-old stallion bay Fixit.

The show at Sentower Park has been a fruitful one so far for the British youth riders competing under the title sponsor banner of Team NAF.  Yesterday saw both the Children and Young Rider teams finish 3rd in their respective Nations Cups and a 2nd place finish for Charlotte in today’s Grand Prix has added to the tally and showcased  Great Britain's youth talent well.

This afternoon also saw the Pony Grand Prix play out with a 6th place finish for Great Britain and tomorrow will see the Pony, Junior and Young Rider Grand Prix’s take place.  The show which commenced on Thursday 11th May continues until tomorrow and full results can be found at www.sentowerpark.com.
