National Grade B Championship Final

Day five at the British Showjumping National Championships, held at the NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, and competitors were displaying incredible talent to entertain the crowd of spectators.

Flying to the finish in the National Grade B Championship Final was Ashley Silk-Jones riding Jackie Jones’s Valentina B. Ashley who is based in Essex, travelled three hours to get to the Championships and produced a perfect round to secure the win. With just six through to the jump off there was very little room for error, but Ashley and Valentina B completed the jump off course in an impressive 41.51 seconds.

Ashley commented on her round: “I felt the class rode well the whole way through. The first round was technical but I found the jump off course to be easier. The combination was tricky, as were fences one to two. Then in the jump off I just kept my outside leg on and she turned beautifully to each fence, which is really what you need.”

Ashley continued: “She’s your typical quirky chestnut mare, but she has such a jump on her and I was so pleased with her today.”

Taking second place was Declan Irvine and Richard Duncan’s Mystic Independence who sadly missed out on first place but produced a great round in a time of 45.17 seconds to clinch the runner up spot.
