Emily Ward wins the Winter Grand Prix at Arena UK

Emily Ward from Neston, Cheshire claimed the win in the Winter Grand Prix on Saturday 1st December at Arena UK’s Winter Classic Show at Allington in Lincolnshire. Riding Anne Bedford’s 12 year-old bay mare Remi Cavalleri, a horse she has ridden for just over three years, Emily claimed the win in text-book fashion.

From an initial field of twenty-nine combinations, just eight made it through to course designer Jason Abbs’ jump off and it was Emily and the naturally quick, Remi Cavalleri whose smooth lines and accuracy came out on top. Delivering a double clear in 41.54 seconds, no one could beat the impressive time Emily had set.

Oliver Fetcher from Faringdon, Oxfordshire was the only rider standing in the way of a one-two for Emily. Riding Lady Pauline Kirkham & Lady Pauline Harris’s gelding Hello Disckoboy D.N, the horse he won his Junior European Team and Individual Silver Medal with, he produced a double clear in 41.95 seconds. Emily’s third place came aboard Steven Barnes’ Millionmind when they stopped the clock with a double clear in 42.66 seconds.
