Zachary Farnsworth from East Yorkshire is November’s NAF Shining Star

Zachary Farnsworth has been awarded the NAF Shining Star for November after showing commitment and dedication within the Yorkshire Junior Academy environment.

Nine year-old Zachary from Goole, East Yorkshire was nominated by the Lead Coach for the Yorkshire Academy, Nicola McLeish. “Zachary has been an active member of the Yorkshire Junior Academy since June 2017. He loves to compete and works extremely hard during his training sessions showing commitment and dedication to furthering his knowledge.”

Zachary regularly attends camps and training sessions and has shown great progression during his time in the academy environment. This summer, Zachary stepped up to 75cm classes and was able to represent the Yorkshire Academy at the National Junior Academy Championships in August. Nicola added “Zachary is a pleasure to coach with a bright future in Showjumping and he’s a truly deserving NAF Shining Star winner.”

After finding out he was the winner of November’s NAF Shining Star, Zachary said “It was a huge surprise to be given the award and to be honest, I could not believe it! It is really nice to be recognised for my progression on my ponies. The best thing about the academy is getting to do my favourite thing which is to jump. The coaches at the academy are great, they are very encouraging and I always learn something at every training session.”

Branwen Griffin from NAF added “It’s a pleasure to hear that Zachary is a committed member of the academy. His competing and training with the academy is really paying off and it was great to see him and his pony representing the academy at the National Junior Academy Championships in August. With such a fantastic attitude and consistent progression, we are sure Zachary has an exciting future in Showjumping! He’s a very deserving recipient of this month’s Shining Star!”

Zachary will now receive a number of NAF Equine products to use alongside the NAF products that he is already using such as Superflex Senior.

The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
