2019 Spring Championships remain at Addington Equestrian Centre

Saturday 15 December 2018

The British Showjumping Spring Championships, now in its third year is to remain at Addington  following the taking over of the show venue by Chris Parker.  The show will run between the 28th – 31st March with a total of seven Championship titles on offer.

Chris, who will take the role of Show Director delivering it in partnership with British Showjumping, has been a long term member of Association and has a deep seated knowledge of the sport. This knowledge spans not only that gained as a competitor but also as an Area Representative, Show Organiser and Collecting Ring Steward. A regular face in the collecting ring at Addington Manor, Chris has also run the Oxford Area Show from the venue in recent years.

For those that have already qualified for one of the seven Finals on offer, they will receive a direct invitation.  There are also some direct qualifiers at the show for each of the Finals for those who are yet to gain their qualifying ticket.

The Finals and direct qualifiers are as follows:
Winter Grade C Championship
Winter 1.35m Championship
Winter Silver League Championship
Winter Bronze League Championship
Winter 7 year-old Championship
Winter 6 year-old Championship
Winter Children on Horses Championship

The confirmed schedule will be made available in the New Year and will be issued on both the British Showjumping and Addington Equestrian website www.addingtonequestrian.com

On being awarded the Championships Chris Parker commented “Taking over the reins at Addington is something I couldn’t be happier about. The venue has always been an incredible one for the sport and I want to ensure that it continues to be that and more under my direction.  Retaining it as a show venue was something that was incredibly important to me and being awarded the Spring Championships, where the show was initially launched at, is the icing on the cake.

I look forward to welcoming everyone at the venue when we open it in the New Year under my direction.  I have a superb team in place who all feel as passionate about the venue as I do and our aim is to create an environment that is not only serviced with top class facilities but one where all competitors from grassroots through to top level can enjoy coming to and will be offered the same warm welcome.”

Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping further commented “It is great news for our members that Addington is to continue as a show venue and that it can continue to host our Spring Championships.  Under the direction of Chris and his team we feel confident that the Championships will be in a safe pair of hands and we look forward to them continuing to take place at the venue from where they started three years ago”.
