Amended Instructions for NAF Pony 5* Style for Performance Awards

NAF PONY FIVE STAR STYLE FOR PERFORMANCE AWARDS

 RIDERS INSTRUCTION

Please note the amendements that have been made for this class (due to be held at the Inter-Academy Team competition at Weston Lawns)

 

Style for Performance will be judged from when you enter the ring until you leave the ring.

The class involves two sections. Section one requires you to demonstrate flatwork movement’s dependant on the star level you hold. Section two involves a course of up to 8 fences.

This competition will be marked on style of the rider to influence the performance of the horse; the riders effectiveness, position, balance, feeling, timing, rhythm and impulsion, to empower the hose to move and jump to the best of its ability.

Your actions as a rider will be taken into account i.e. strength of legs, voice and use of arena.

Section One [Movements should be demonstrated in the numerical order shown below]:

ONE STAR RIDERS:

  1. Enter the arena and demonstrate walk, trot, Canter and a halt on a large circle on both reins
  2. Demonstrate a 20m circle in trot, on both reins
  3. Demonstrate an effective trot to walk and walk to trot transition
  4. Demonstrate a figure of eight in trot, on both reins
  5. Demonstrate an effective trot to walk to halt transition
  6. Demonstrate an accurate and controlled three loop serpentine in trot.

On completion of section one please salute the judge and walk into the jumping area in which time a bell will be rung to indicate the start of section two; jumping the course.

TWO STAR RIDERS:

  1. Enter the arena and demonstrate walk, trot, Canter and a halt on a large circle on both reins
  2. Demonstrate a 20m circle in canter, on both reins
  3. Demonstrate an effective canter to trot to walk and walk to trot to canter transition
  4. Demonstrate a figure of eight in canter showing simple change of leg across the diagonal
  5. Demonstrate an accurate and controlled FOUR loop serpentine in trot.
  6. Demonstrate lengthening and shortening of trot strides down a long side of the arena
  7. Demonstrate lengthening and shortening of  canter  strides down a long side of the arena
  8. Demonstrate effective leg yielding on a 20m circle in trot

On completion of section one please salute the judge and walk into the jumping area in which time a bell will be rung to indicate the start of section two; jumping the course.

 

Section Two: Consists of a course of up to 8 fences. Height of fences are 70cm for 1* riders and 80cm for 2* riders.

After finishing the second section, circle and leave the ring in an appropriate manner, having acknowledged the judges.

Judging criteria / Score Sheets are attached for your information. Second Section Course Plan will be displayed outside the ring as normal.

Completed Score sheets with comments will be available from the Judging box once the class has finished.
