Competition Successes

Lincolnshire members have been doing well.  Junior rider Lydia Norton riding her father's 'Out of Time' has started her 2012 campaign in style when she finished 3rd in the Adventurer at South View with a double clear and also won the JC/JA Blue Chip Qualifier at Bishop Burton.  Lydia's brother Henry, made his senior debut on his father's DHI Antonio at the recent Arena UK show where he finished a creditable 3rd place in the British Novice.

Henry Truelove made his long trip to Rowallan EC in Scotland worthwhile when he qualified for the Royal International Horse Show to be held at Hickstead. 12 year old Henry, riding his father's My Gizmo came 2nd in the 138cm Winter second round after jumping 3 clear rounds.

Leonie Aitkenhead had an amazing weekend at the Small Pony Premier held at Arena UK, January 14th and 15th. She qualified both her ponies for the Royal International Horse Show (RIHS) to be held at Hickstead at the first opportunity. Leonie won the class on Little Miss Ebony and took second place with Milou de la Grange, on the second day she was placed 2nd and 4th. Leonie's mum, Bev Aitkenhead said “This is a fab start to the year for us, the pressure is off until May now and I'm very happy not having to trail up to Scotland in a fortnight!”

Aimee Jones had a great weekend at South View Premier at the beginning of January on her pony Coppindell Pizarro, qualifying for the Coral class at the Blue Chip Championships and also the Adventurer at this year's Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival. Aimee also got her last double clear Foxhunter and is now ready for second rounds.

Abbie and Kellie Taylor have been busy.  Abbie's two ponies (Ashes Cool Dude and Little Miss Sassy) are now back in work and have both qualified for the Graham Heath construction 138cm class at the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival.   Ashes Cool Dude came 2nd at the Hand in the 138cm Grand Prix New Year show, and jumped treble clear in the winter 138cm second round at Rowallan, Scotland, finishing 3rd, so sadly missed qualifying for RIHS by one place.  Kellie has two new 138cm ponies, Mr Jack Sparrow and Atlantic Jewel.   They too have both qualified for the Graham Heath construction 138 class at the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival.

Congratulations to Nottinghamshire’s Beth Vernon who came out on top at The Hand EC which played host to two John Whitaker International Winter JA Classic Championship qualifiers.  Riding Allyson Blagg’s coloured mare, Cinderella Girl the pair jumped round in a jump off time of 37.28 seconds taking the first of the qualifying tickets with 2nd place going to Pulborough, West Sussex based Harriet Barsham and her mother’s (Liz) grey gelding Bob Justice.

Please keep in touch with Ruth Tyler (East Midlands Development Officer) and your Area Representatives to let us know how you are getting on in competition!  It is always lovely to hear from you and we will try and post as many details as we can in the monthly newsletter!
