Congratulations to Northamptonshire's Hero Seago!

Northamptonshire’s Hero Seago Wins the August NAF Shining Star Award

The NAF Shining Star Award for August has been given to dedicated young showjumper, 11-year-old Hero Seago from Brixworth, Northamptonshire. Hero was awarded the NAF Shining Star because of the exceptional enthusiasm and drive that she has demonstrated during her time as a member of her local British Showjumping Junior Academy.

Hero was nominated for the NAF Shining Star Award by the lead coach for the Northamptonshire/Cambridge Junior Academy, Mia Korenika. Mia was delighted to learn that Hero had won the award and explained the reasons for her nomination “Hero is a delightful young lady who attends every training session she can possibly get to, usually with both of her ponies.

“Hero is always smiling, is helpful to other and is incredibly polite. She sets a great example to her peers and I thoroughly enjoy teaching her. I know that she’ll be a great ambassador for the British Showjumping Junior Academy system and as well as to the NAF Performance Awards system. Hero is thoroughly deserving of the NAF Shining Star Award”.

Hero joined British Showjumping as a member back in 2011 and she has enjoyed great support from her Mum and Dad during that time. Although Hero is relatively new to affiliated sport and the Junior Academy system, she has started out very successfully and has already completed her 1* Pony Performance Award and is well on her way to completing her 2*. Hero has also represented her Junior Academy on two different teams with two different ponies at the Inter-Academy competition at Weston Lawns Equitation Centre. Hero has also been previously awarded a Worshipful Company of Saddlers browband for her exemplary behaviour and results during the course of the last year.

Tracey Lloyd, Marketing Manager for NAF commented “Hero highlights the importance of how a strategic approach to training can play dividends in your competitive performance. The careful structure of the NAF Pony Five Star awards have clearly provided Hero with a focus for her training and improved performance in the ring. Well done and congratulations!!”

The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
