Nottinghamshire’s Jessica Baugh Jumps to Victory in SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe
Monday 11 January 2016
Thirty-eight combinations battled it out for two Championship qualifying tickets on offer in yesterday’s SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe in Bedfordshire and it was Jessica Baugh from Newark, Nottinghamshire who proved victorious.
With just the two qualifying places available for the SEIB Winter Novice Championship, which will be held at the Longines Royal International Horse Show in July, competition proved fierce and spectators were treated to an electric nineteen horse jump off in which six double clears were achieved.
Jessica took an early lead in the class after delivering a fast double clear on board her own 8 year-old chestnut gelding Finley’s Quest. Drawn as the fourth pair to go in the jump off, their double clear in 38.73 seconds was to prove too difficult to beat.
Nicola Barry from Coalville, Leicestershire took second place with her own 7 year-old black gelding El Nino V after they posted their double clear in 39.93 seconds.
