Cambridgeshire's Richard Barton Qualifies for HOYS!
Thursday 04 September 2014
Congratulations to Cambridgeshire's Richard Barton, who competed at the Silver Semi-Final at Keysoe in August and qualified for HOYS!
Richard said: 'I would like to say as an amateur competitor “what a good idea it is.” It rewards the consistency of both the horse and rider enabling the horse and rider to climb the league and qualify for one of the two semi-finals and then hopefully onto The HOYS.
The homebred horse I qualified on, 9 year old Solitary Boy owned and ridden by myself is out of our mare Anitana. All the hard work put in by both my parents Bob and Liz seems to have paid off.
Winning the Silver league (Southern Region) semi-final entitling me to jump at The HOYS final has come as a bonus. My work as a lorry driver has prevented me from going to the Blue Chip Final, Scope Festival and put the much needed time in for the Foxhunter Regional final, which my horse Solitary Boy qualified for.
This new class enables people like me without the financial backing or sponsorship to compete at The HOYS.'
We wish Richard the very best of luck at HOYS. Pictured is Richard and Solitary Boy.
