Hertfordshire Showjumper Tagatha Payne secures her place in the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship

Fourteen combinations came forward to contest the last of this year’s Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur second rounds held at Brook Farm Training Centre in Romford, Essex on Sunday.

Each combination started out with the aim of picking up a qualification ticket for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships which will run next month at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool (18th – 22nd November).

It was Tagatha Payne from Welwyn, Hertfordshire who proved victorious after she improved on her placing from the 1.05m second round held earlier on in the day.

Tagatha again partnered her own 10 year-old dark bay mare The Maharanee and the combination led the jump off from the start after they laid down their double clear in 33.73 seconds. This saw them finish the class with a six second lead.

Second place went to the only other combination able to produce a double clear and that was the pairing of Natasha Dunsdon from Guildford, Surrey with her own 9 year-old chestnut mare Babette. They produced their second clean round in 39.77 seconds.

Third place was taken by Claire Darwin from Bedford, Bedfordshire and she rode her own 15 year-old bay gelding As D’Exploit Van Groenhove. This combination produced the fastest four fault round and did so in 34.91 seconds.
