Hertfordshire’s Scarlett Williams secured first place last month at the College of West Anglia in the Schools 70cm League Class

Scarlett Williams, aged 10 from Hertfordshire secured first place last month at the College of West Anglia in the Schools 70cm League Class. Riding for St Edmunds School, Scarlett and her pony Just Ginger jumped a fast double clear.

Speaking afterwards about her performance Scarlett commented; “Just Ginger is amazing to ride, he can be strong but he always looks after me! I love the ‘Just for Schools’ League because I prefer competing against similar aged riders.”

Scarlett’s mum Charlie said; “I like the ‘Just for Schools’ programme because it helps the school understand the sport. We are lucky that the Head Teachers have fully embraced it and support and publicise Scarlett’s success just as much as they would a Math’s Scholarship which is lovely for children to see showing that it doesn’t matter what you do it all counts.”

Scarlett enjoys keeping an eye on the league table to see how well she is doing and aims to qualify for the British Showjumping National Championships next year.

The ‘Just for Schools’ League run by British Showjumping offers riders the chance to compete Individually or as a Team in classes ranging from 70cm to 1.10m with the chance to qualify for the Championships.
