NAF Shining Star award for Chloe Wornham!

The NAF Shining Star Award for March 2016 has been given to Chloe Wornham. Fourteen year-old, Chloe from Knebworth, Hertfordshire gained her nomination for continued improvement and always being a cheerful, well presented member of the Central Academy.

Chloe was nominated for the award by Mandy McGlynn who is lead coach for the Central Academy. Mandy had the following about her nominee: “Chloe is a good ambassador for the academy by the way she puts into practice what she has learnt. Her attention to detail on all aspects of her riding, turnout and management has rewarded her with being nominated and selected for the NAF Shining Star award. All credit goes to her and her family and I couldn't be more pleased for them and for the Central Academy.”

At the tender age of two, Chloe began her riding career on board first pony, Tommy. With her interest sparked she went on to become a keen member of the East Herts Pony Club and began jumping at local shows. In 2012, Chloe was introduced to British Showjumping through the Club membership scheme, where she has gone from strength to strength, winning the Eastern League at 80cm in 2013, 90cm in 2014, followed by the 90cm and 1m in 2015. After such a successful run, Chloe and her pony, Conner, became full members of British Showjumping in March 2015 taking on Pony of the Year show as her first big competition and going on to win at the British Showjumping National Championships later that year. And Chloe has not rested on her laurels in 2016, with qualifications for the Scope Festival and British Showjumping National Championships already under her belt.

Chloe has relished the training she has received at the Central Academy, where she has passed her NAF 4star and been awarded the ‘Most Improved Central Academy Rider’ in her age group. The academy not only provides a useful environment for introducing young riders to the sport but also provides a supportive and encouraging environment, which travels out into the competition arena with members offering help and support when they see each other at shows.

Upon finding out she had become a NAF Shining Star, an astonished Chloe said ‘I didn't know I'd been nominated so I was thrilled when mum told me. I love working through the Pony 5* book and the training by Mia Palles-Clark and Mandy McGlynn is excellent, They are great inspiration and encourage me as an all-round sportsperson and not just a showjumper. I'd like to thank them and also my mum for all their support and of course Conner, he is amazing!’

Chloe will kindly receive some NAF equine products to use alongside the supplements that she currently uses, which include NAF EnerG which is designed to help improve the performance of the hardworking equine athlete.

Melissa Newman, NAF Brand Manager, further commented “Chloe is a fantastic example of the close partnership between British Showjumping and The Pony Club and this successful membership scheme. She has clearly demonstrated her level of dedication to the sport through her many wins, achieving the NAF 4star award and her academy’s most improved rider accolade. It is great to hear about her sunny disposition and excellent levels of presentation too. A very deserving Shining Star, well done!”

The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
