WORK BASED MODERN APPRENTICESHIPS NOW OFFERED BY BRITISH SHOWJUMPING

British Showjumping have formed a partnership with accredited work-based training provider Haddon Training to provide formal work-based programmes and apprenticeships.  The core focus of this partnership is to assist individuals, who have opted to work within an equestrian environment, gain formal qualifications which may assist them in their career development.

“These work-based training programmes and apprenticeships are the flip-side of going to college and are government funded subject to eligibility. Our aim is to link employers, employees and young people to build up a talented and skilled workforce” said Chris Hewlett of Haddon Training.
Learning job-specific skills from people in the equine industry is an official form of education and the apprenticeship is equivalent to five GCSEs at A-C level while the advanced level is equal to two A-levels.
Haddon Training provide the syllabus, the funding and other support such as helping with key skills in maths and English.  All training is to national standards with a particular focus on skills that are important to the equine industry.   It means that you can earn whilst you learn, gaining recognised qualifications.
“British Showjumping will be working closely alongside Haddon Training providing a platform for some of the training via the Academies and the already extensive training structure that we currently have in place.  We see this extension to our offering as extremely valuable as it equips those wishing to work within the sport a chance to gain many of the necessary skills they need to succeed.” Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping."

Work based training and modern apprenticeships are open to anyone interested in working with horses and you do not need to be a member of British Showjumping to express an interest in them or to speak with one of our Development Officers.

Further information will be provided to coaches at the upcoming coaching conferences.
