An exciting new updated and re-designed ‘NAF 5* Style for Performance’ Class
Tuesday 17 September 2013
An exciting new re-designed competition has very kindly been scheduled by the organisers of the 2013 Arena UK Festival of Showjumping for Sunday September 29th 2013; for members who have attained the ‘3, 4 or 5 Star Award’ of the NAF Horse Five Star Performance Awards Programme. Allowing competitors to compete with any grade of registered horse with a maximum height of 1m for 3 & 4 star achievers and 1.10m for 5 star achievers, for the first prize of £250. The competition will be marked on Style of the rider to influence the performance of the horse.
The rider’s effectiveness, position, balance, feel, timing, rhythm & impulsion to empower the horse to jump at the best of its ability. The overall presentation of the horse rider combination in addition to their evident mutual understanding and empathy will also be a key consideration.
With the Five Star Performance Awards going from strength to strength and the importance that a strategic approach to training can play in their competitive performance British Show Jumping hope that this exciting new re-designed class will be warmly received. Justine Naylor, National Director of Sport commented “This Class will serve to acknowledge the importance of correct basics developed through a comprehensive training programme. With the NAF 5* Award Programme focusing on fundamentals, partnerships progress to perform more advanced movements, which subsequently has a direct impact on improving performance in the ring. Furthermore, this class provides recognition for the achievements of the riders who have achieved the NAF awards demonstrating an array of competencies and underpinning knowledge.’’
Di Lampard, British Showjumping Coach, echoed this comment by saying “Whether we are looking at the sport as a whole or looking at our own individual performance, the key to progression is to ensure the basics are right and that we continue building on them. The NAF Five Star Performance Awards reiterate this throughout the programme and for those members that have attained the Midway mark and above of the star Awards we see this class as a great opportunity for them to put their hard work into practice at a National Championship Show.
