From Pony Club to British Showjumping National Championships
Monday 22 May 2017
The Area 18 Cheshire & Merseyside team co-ordinated by Gillian Milner finished on a zero score after two rounds at the Northern Team Qualifier held at Northallerton Equestrian Centre. It was an early start for the team from Cheshire who travelled over 3 hours to compete. In the timed jump off Grace Wallace was amazing and produced a superb clear to clinch victory.
All four team mates have graduated through Pony Club with Kate Samuel 16, Grace Wallace 16 both studying A levels and Martha Newhall 21 studying criminal psychology all current members of the Cheshire Hunt South Branch and regularly attending Pony Club activities. Ashley Daniel 27 who now works in the horse industry is a former member of the East Cheshire Branch but progressed from Pony Club to now compete at British Showjumping.
It was great to see a young team who have come through the Pony club now contenders at the British Showjumping National Championships at Stoneleigh in August.
Welldone to everyone who competed including two teams from Durham & Cleveland, two teams from Northumberland, one team from North Yorkshire and the Pony Club team from Cheshire. The second team to qualify for the National Championships was the Cleveland and Durham team. Good Luck to everyone at the National Championships.
