Joe Nice receives his Club Champion prizes from Joe Whitaker

Joe Nice winner of the Pony 1m Club Championships class at the Northern Club Championships at Bishop Burton in August was presented with his rug and sash by Joe Whitaker and Gill Chivers (District Commisioner of the York and Ainsty South Pony Club) at the weekend.

This was a total suprise to Joe who had just had a lesson with Joe W, who then popped up a course of jumps after his lesson and they borrow Fergus back from his new owners. He was asked to jump the course and luckily went clear and with rent a crowd (pony club) he was presented with his rug, rosette and sash, he was totally shocked. 

Lesley Hardcastle (Joe's Mum) says:

"I think club has done what its intended to do - to encourage those into the sport that are not ready to affiliate.  Its done that for Joe, we registered with club when he first got his pony. The course building is of a consistantly high standard and we haven't felt the same pressure as we would have affiliated.   Joe was ready to give up riding 2 years ago due to teasing at school for riding and lack of a male role model (hence me seeking out Joe Whitaker). Joe Whitaker has encouraged him massively and club has provided the facility to put into practice what he has learnt plus achieve without too much pressure."
