Kate & Jasper - British Showjumping Pony Club Membership

Since purchasing Swag Jasper at Easter Kate and him have established a strong partnership.

Kate only joined British Showjumping in summer 2015 when we were offered the reduced Pony Club Rate but they have been having great fun out competing both BS & BE.

We decided to go to the Scottish Home Ponies August 2016 with friends.  We went with no expectations other than to have a nice time and for the experience.  The highlight of the Scottish Home Ponies was on the last day when they won the Novice Grand Prix.

The pair then went on to win both the Pony Discovery and Pony British Novice First Round at Area 14 Show October 2016.  A couple of weeks later the pairing went to West Park where they won 2nd prizes in the Pony Intro 90cm Open and Pony British Novice First Round.  They had an unlucky pole in the Newcomers!  They now have their first round double clears in Discovery and Novice and we are training hard to reach Newcomers level.

Kate & Jasper have also been out eventing this season with their best placing to date being 10th at Hutton in the Forest when they were also one of the combinations to gain recognition in the new Airowear BE80T Technical Merit Award Winners 2015

The Merit is set to reward BE80(T) competitors for good cross country riding and is given to riders that have:

  • Finished cross country in the time CLOSEST time to the Optimum XC time set (without time penalties) and,
  • Achieved a double clear (i.e. no jumping or time penalties in the show-jumping and cross-country phases)

We also had the privilege of attending the Longines FEI European Eventing Championship 2015 at Blair Castle, as Kate & Jasper had qualified for the Arena Eventing Championships at Park End Equestrian.  The atmosphere was electric and Kate & Jasper flew round the technical course but were 2 seconds over the optimum time.  However, they still managed a 7th place and the prize giving took place after the final trot up in the main arena.  It was a fantastic experience.

British Showjumping  really is great value for money and we would encourage Pony Club members to join at the reduced rate of £54.  Kate has already won more than that back in prize money.
