Lancashire, Greater Manchester & North Merseyside (Area 17) merge with Cheshire & South Merseyside (Area 18)

Thursday 07 February 2019

Lancashire & Cheshire have for some months now resided without an Area Representative in position. Due to this the National Sport Committee for British Showjumping have taken the decision to merge the two areas to create a new Lancashire & Cheshire Area 18.  It is evident that members from both Lancashire & Cheshire compete at all seven venues within the two existing areas, all of which have a travel time of approximately two hours. The thriving Lancashire Junior Academy has members from both areas and are proud to have had three Cheshire Teams and three Lancashire Teams at the National Academy Show in 2018.

With the merger, an Area Awards evening covering a combined membership base offers the opportunity for a well- supported event. Joint future initiatives between venues and grass shows will further provide for the combined Area and help a stronger committee to support the British Showjumping community within the North West.

The combined area will come into force on the 1st March 2019.

The post for Area Representative and supporting committee members will be advertised shortly, in the meantime if you are interested in getting involved in any aspect please contact michelle.clough@britishshowjumping.co.uk
