Northern Riders bring home the Medals

Two Northern riders were part of the Gold Medal winning team at the Pony Europeans - Jessica Hewitt, aged 16 from Pontefract, West Yorkshire riding Lynn Barker's 11 year-old dark bay gelding Ammanvalley Santino and 16 year-old Charlotte Ash from Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear with her mother Shirley’s 11 year-old gelding Aughnashamma. Millie Allen from Stockton on Tees and Robert Murphy from Preston where part of the Young Rider Bronze medal winning team and then it was 17 year-old Millie, who took another Bronze medal in Austria to make this the 10th medal that she has won for GB at a youth European Championships. Riding her father Peter’s 10 year-old bay stallion Balou Star, she had secured 3rd position after the first round, a position that she held right through to the end to take her place beside Harry on the podium for the medal giving ceremony. Harry Charles from Alton Hampshire with his father Peter’s 10 year-old chestnut Gelding Vivaldi Du Dom that clinched Individual Silver.
Another Northern rider Charlie Dawson, aged 16 from Goole, North Humberside finished 2nd in the Farewell Competition with her mother Kerry’s 11 year-old chestnut gelding TJM Henry de Reve. The Farewell Competition was for those that hadn’t qualified for the Individual Final.
The Children, having wonTeam Silver missed out in the Individuals however a great performance by 14 year-old Bobbie Heath from Nantwich, Cheshire with her father Graham’s 15 year-old chestnut mare Labuleska saw them finish 2nd in the Farewell Competition.
