RIA SCOTT awarded the NAF Shining Star Award

Eleven year-old Ria Scott from Thirsk, North Yorkshire has been recognised as a dedicated and talented young showjumper and as a result, has been awarded the NAF Shining Star Award for August.

A member of British Showjumping since 2011, Ria is a member of the Durham Junior Academy and she was nominated by Lead Coach, Sarah Tubbs “Ria shows tremendous commitment and enthusiasm to the development of her showjumping. She is always keen to learn and works hard with any pony she is given to ride. Consistently endeavouring to work with the coaches to improve her ponies, Ria has a willing and positive attitude - she is a pleasure to work with.”

Upon hearing that she had won the award, a delighted Ria said “I am really thrilled to have won and it came as a shock as I didn’t even know that I had been nominated! I have worked really hard with my pony Bunbury Conquest and have qualified for the 128cms Championship at Horse of the Year Show, which I am really excited about as it will be my first time competing there. I am also working hard to bring on my other two ponies and also gain my 4* and 5* Awards [of the NAF Pony Five Star Performance Awards Programme].”

As part of the winner’s prize, Ria will receive some NAF equine products to use alongside the supplements she currently uses which include Superflex for her ponies joints and EnerG for supporting performance.

Griselda Handy, Brand Manager for NAF, commented “Well done Ria, you’re clearly a hard working young rider and you’ve achieved some great accolades to date. We could not be happier that you have won our Shining Star Award for this month!”

The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
