WINNINGS RESTRICTIONS LIFTED FOR YOUNG HORSES IN THREE KEY SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

With immediate effect, all horses aged 5, 6 and 7 years will be eligible to remain in at least one of the following senior national championships regardless of their points. Their eligibility to compete in these classes, should their points exceed the criteria set, will run until the end of the year in which the maximum eligible age is reached.

This change has come into force following a recommendation put forward from the Young Horse Working Party which was then ratified by the National Sport Committee. By bringing this change into effect it will allow all young horses an extended period of time to gain both experience and confidence across courses specifically designed for this purpose.

Please note, for second rounds and Championship Finals - horses must be of the specified age as set out below to compete.

The three senior championships and the age criteria for each of them are as follows:

  • Equilibrium Products Senior Discovery – Including and up to the end of the year in which they turn 5 years old
  • EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers – Including and up to the end of the year in which they turn 6 years old
  • Horse & Hound Foxhunter - Including and up to the end of the year in which they are 7 years old
