The Stable Company 138cm Championship saw 13 year-old Nicole Lockhead Anderson from Banchory, Aberdeenshire riding her mother Claire's 18 year-old bay gelding Sonas Barney take the title as her own after a two way jump off.
Twenty-two riders came forward with their ponies of 138cm and under to contest the final, but it was only Nicole and Tegan Rowlands who managed to pull off a clear across the testing course.
Determined to claim the title as their own, they both put in another foot-perfect clear, however stopping the clock in a very fast time of 34.89 seconds was enough for Nicole to relegate Tegan into 2nd place with her time of 40.91 seconds aboard Coren Rowlands' 20 year-old grey stallion Grey Palace.
Tahnia Jordan-Jones took 3rd place with Michelle Poole's 14 year-old Appaloosa gelding Oakhurst in the Spotlight having finished on the least penalties in the first round. Having accrued one time penalty in what was otherwise a faultless round it must have been a heart breaking moment when she stopped the clock just outside the time allowed losing the chance of securing her place in the jump off as a result.
“It’s phenomenal. It’s something that I have always wanted to win and it happened today” said Nicole.
When asked about Sonas Barney, Nicole said: “He is just a lovely pony to have around.”
