Scottish Home Pony - Pony Premier Show

 

The Scottish Home Pony drew pony riders from all over the country to the Scottish National Equestrian Centre in Broxburn, West Lothian last weekend. With talented ponies and riders all vying for the qualification places on offer, it proved to be a fabulous two days of competitive showjumping.   

HOYS 128cm Qualifier – Friday 21st July 2017

Ten-year-old Charles Heffron from Dungannon, County Tyrone topped the leader board with Dandy, a 17-year-old bay gelding owned by Diana  Heffron. This combination lead the three horse jump off with the only treble clear of the class, finishing in a time of 49.39 seconds.   

The top three combinations took home a place in the HOYS 128cms Championship Final held at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show in October.

1st Charles Heffron & Dandy – 0/0/0 – 49.39 seconds

2nd Rachel Proudley & Styx Evo VIII – 0/0/4 – 44.19 seconds

3rd William Stewart & Soxs Pocket Rocket – 0/0/4 – 51.97 seconds

Pony Showjumper of the Year – Friday 21st July 2017

Taking home joint first place were 14-year-old Shaunie Greig from Dunfermline, Fife riding Casino Royale VIII, a 14-year-old bay gelding owned by Anne Greig and Madison Jamison, aged 16, from Knuzden riding Bodyssee Des Avelines, a 10-year-old dark bay mare owned by Nicola Jamison.   

The top three went on to secure the Horse of the Year Show places available, whilst the pair in fourth took home the chance to compete at the British Showjumping National Championships.

3rd Nicole Lockhead Anderson & Stars Surprise – 8 – 85.11 seconds

4th Mya Roxborough Caira & Chivaz – 8 – 85.66 seconds

Pony Foxhunter Second Round – Saturday 22nd July 2017

Megan Morris, aged 13, from Lauder, Berwickshire secured the win on board RS Capello, a nine-year-old chestnut gelding owned by Anne Morris. In the six pony jump off this pair produced the only treble clear of the class, stopping the clock in 54.66 seconds.

The top three combinations secured a ticket straight to October’s Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show, whilst the riders and ponies placed fourth and fifth took home the chance to compete in the Pony Foxhunter Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships in August.

1st Megan Morris & RS Capello – 0/0/0 – 54.66 seconds

2nd Nicole Lockhead Anderson & Little Red Cloud – 0/0/4 – 43.24 seconds

3rd Ella Garlick & Dash of Port – 0/0/4 – 44.93 seconds

4th Sinead Cox & Lislan Cruising Lady – 0/0/4 – 48.92 seconds

5th Lila Bremner & Lapislazuli– 0/0/4 – 49.69 seconds

NB: Qualifications will be updated pending official grading of results.

The Horse of the Year Show 2017 will take place from the 4th – 8th October at Birmingham’s NEC. The British Showjumping National Championships 2017 will take place during the 8th – 13th August at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre (NAEC), Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
