Resume:  My family started to run affiliated indoor and outdoor senior and junior shoes at Blue Barn, Ashford, Kent in the 1980’ss and ran popular and successful shows for 20 years.  That gave me a good insight into the organisation and standards required for the past 20 years.  I have been a British Showjumping Judge and Commentator and also a member of the Kent Area Committee.  I competed for some years and my daughters Julie and Maria compete successfully at a much higher level.  I feel that my years of experience in all aspects of affiliated jumping qualify me to have views and opinions which would be helpful in promoting and reinvigorating the sport in the South East which as high membership and registration numbers but a serious fall off in shows held, particularly in Kent.

Resume:  Back in 1967 at the tender age of 21 I became Honorary Secretary of the prestigious Colchester Horse Society.  In 1978 I then became secretary at the then new Towerlands Equestrian Centre, a role which I developed over a 5 year period.  Since then I have continued to run shows including those at Chalfont St Giles, The Richmond Horse Show and, of course, Vicarage Farm.  Being also a British Showjumping 2* Judge and an FEI Level 3 Judge I have had plenty of experience in seeing how others run their shows, both nationally and Internationally.  I have also experienced shows from the other side of the fence as a competitor, progressing through ponies to the senior ranks and therefore appreciate the competitors view point.  Through my extensive experience of the sport, I believed I can bring to the Members Council a wide range of knowledge to help improve the running of affiliated shows.

In 2002 my wife and I leased Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, during this time we have run shows to a very high standard, also introducing single phase, A10 and times for the first class of the day at high profile shows.  This has enabled owners and riders to plan their day more effectively.  Through being involved with the Members Council I hope that my ideas will contribute to a higher standard of show organisation throughout the country.
