Church Farm Equestrian Equissage Discovery second round.

Church Farm Equestrian in Lancashire fought against the wind and rain to hold the Equissage Discovery second round. With thirty one starters the weather didn’t put off the competitors all trying to gain qualification for the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival.

Fourteen year old Beth Austin from Crewe in Cheshire riding Teri Harrop’s seven year old black mare Zeester was one of twelve combinations that jumped double clear to make it into the final jump off. Jumping another clear in the third round in a quick time of 33.28 seconds proved unbeatable, giving Beth first place and the first of the two qualification tickets.

The second qualification ticket went to Cumbria based Lucy Thomlinson who was riding Michael Hallows eight year old bay gelding Wenge. Lucy knew that a fast clear was in order and although she couldn’t catch Beth a clear in 38.11 seconds was good enough to hold onto second place.

The Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival 2011 will take place from Sunday 28th August to Saturday 3rd September at Stafford County Showground.
