Well Done James Emblen

James Emblen Jumps to Victory in SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Bury Farm Equestrian Village

James Emblen fought off seventy-one other challengers on Sunday to scoop the top spot in the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Bury Farm Equestrian Village in Slapton, Buckinghamshire.

As the end of qualification window nears, each and every one of the seventy-two starters were chasing the two qualifying tickets up for grabs for the Championship which takes place at the Longines Royal International Horse Show in July. Following a competitive first round of the class, a twenty-eight strong jump off ensued and fourteen double clears were eventually delivered.

James, from Woking in Surrey, won the class on Skelwith Lady Delilah, a 9 year-old bay mare owned by Skelwith Stud and Anthony Asker. James was drawn to go around the midway point of the jump off and after having seen six double clears laid down before him, he knew that only a fast and accurate round would do. James and Skelwith Lady Delilah left all fences standing in the jump off and flew through the finish in 28.81 seconds.

Second place was picked up by Kim Coburn from Chesham, Buckinghamshire and she rode Ellen Kichmann’s 7 year-old brown mare Ballerina. This combination also broke the 29.00 seconds barrier, crossing through the finish with a double clear in 28.90 seconds.
