Wingrove wins at West and West in the
EquestrianClearance.com Newcomers second round.

The David Broome event Centre hosted the Wales and West six day show over the weekend which included the EquestrianClearance.com Newcomers second round. Ninety nine combinations started in the class all competing for the top two spots which gave them a Horse of the Year Show qualification (HOYS). Also up for grabs were five Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification tickets.

The testing course saw only twenty two combinations jump clear in the first round and a further fourteen jump a second clear making it into the final jump off. The first HOYS ticket went to Warwickshire based Jamie Wingrove who partnered Fiona Hedges’ seven year old dark bay mare Zilfa Heleen. There were eight treble clears but Jamie rode a superb round stopping the clock in an unbeatable time of 38.72 seconds. Just 0.07 seconds behind Jamie was Hertfordshire based Chloe Aston. Sixteen year old Chloe who has recently been picked for the Tretorn Junior International Squad was partnering her mothers (Joanne) six year old bay gelding Amigo T. Jumping clear just a fraction slower than Jamie put Chloe in second place taking the other HOYS qualification.

The remaining three Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope festival qualification tickets went to, third placed Steven Franks riding the eight year old chestnut gelding Pacome Du Bois Mesnil owned by Karine Lorin. This combination jumped clear in a time of 40.68 seconds, just missing out on second place.

Fourth place was Oxfordshire based Geoff Luckett riding his own and Claire Beecroft’s eight year old grey gelding Bandit II, jumping clear in a time of 41.03 seconds.

The final qualification went to fifth placed Anthony Condon from Cheshire riding Sue Davies’ six year old bay mare Pewit Quinto jumping clear in a time of 43.17 seconds.
