Gloucestershire’s Rebecca Mason takes victory in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round at Weston Lawns Equitation Centre
Monday 02 July 2018
Producing three foot perfect rounds of showjumping, Rebecca Mason took victory in last weekend’s Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round at Weston Lawns Equitation Centre near Coventry, Warwickshire against a massive 115 starters.
With only two qualification spots on offer for the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Championship Final, which will be held during this October’s Horse of the Year Show, each combinations had their sights set on crossing the finish line with a treble clear.
The initial starting field was whittled down during the first two rounds until just twelve talented combinations were left to go head to head against the clock in the final jump off.
Gloucestershire based rider Rebecca gave the winning performance on board Vancurtis, a 6 year-old black mare owned by Team Crows Nest. Taking their place in the jump off with two accurate clear rounds, this partnership went in to the final jump off focused on claiming top spot and it paid off as they crossed the finish line with a treble clear in a lightning fast 39.68 seconds.
The riders and horses that finished in third to sixth took home the chance to compete in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
