Jersey Academy Successfully Launched

The British Showjumping Jersey Academy was launched on the 19th June and is offering its members regular, affordable, expert training in showjumping and associated skills. Two sets of training sessions have been held since the launch – one taught by local coaches Cilla Perchard and Alison Rogers, the other by the lead visiting coach, Paul Crago. Paul has been a Great Britain nation’s cup member on several occasions and is visiting regularly to help Academy members improve their standard of riding and equine knowledge.

The vice chair of the British Showjumping Jersey, Joanne Patterson, says "I have had very positive feedback from both juniors and seniors who have been to our first Academy training sessions and I can see they are learning fast. The Academy is a fun way for our members to improve their showjumping skills, and we will also be running classroom sessions with specially produced booklets to monitor their progress.

We are especially lucky to have Paul Crago as our lead coach. He has competed successfully across Europe and the UK, including London Olympia, the Horse of the Year Show and the Royal International Horse Show.”

Group Academy sessions are available for all ages, from minis aged seven and up, to experienced, adult riders who are competing nationally at the highest level.

If there are any Jersey riders who like more details or are interested in coming along to see what it’s about please contact joanne patterson joannehorses@hotmail.com
