Fun Fun Fun at Dyfed Academy
Friday 12 May 2017
Little Mill Equestrian Centre near Carmarthen opened its doors to the recently formed West Wales Dyfed Showjumping Academy. The Academy certainly enjoyed lessons on a superb 60x40 sand and fibre surface with a pristine set of jumps.
UKCC Level 3 & Academy Lead Coach Mike Butcher was there to welcome everyone. Following a quick tack check and a rider chat about aims and goals for the coming season Mike worked with individuals in small groups then fed back to 'parents & grooms' what to work on between academy sessions.
The area committee worked tremendously hard to design and handout individual folders for riders to keep their progress charted, this included a docket for their NAF 5 star booklets that all are working through.
In addition to the ridden work the academy had a session with Regional Development Officer Paul Nicholson about what it means to jump affiliated. Dyfryn Towi vets were on hand to offer help in a question & answers session alongside a very interesting talk about Equine Injuries. All in all a fun packed day for both riders & parents.
The academy has many dates and venues booked for the Summer and we would very much like to welcome members and non members of all levels. There shall be guest coaches coming into the area and selection days for team competitions.
Keep up to speed with all the areas training, socials & shows on the BS Area 36 Facebook page. We hope to welcome lots of new faces over the coming weeks and months!
