Training & Academy News

DON’T MISS the range of rider Training that is taking place across the Region throughout the spring period. A full listing of which will shortly be available on the Regional Pages (both News & Training sections) of the British Showjumping Website and on the Region’s facebook page. In the meantime, contact chris.shaw@britishshowjumping.co.uk for details of forthcoming sessions or to register your interest in taking part in the future.

Leading the way are Area 22 (Staffordshire), who will hold a ridden training day on 5th April  at Eland Lodge, which is just a few minutes from both the A50 and A38, near Uttoxeter. Pat Crann will lead the Coaching, with the day being organised by Di Fairclough. Di says, “everyone will be welcome and we are determined to keep the sessions as affordable as possible”, (on this occasion, just £25 per head per session). “We want to open the day to riders in adjoining Areas as well, particularly as Eland Lodge is such an accessible venue”. Di also has a further two-day training camp planned for August this year, which will once again be staged at Eland Lodge. Di can be contacted via faircloughd7@aol.com

The Junior Academy in Warwickshire (Area 30) is already active this spring, having recently held an “early start” training session with Marie Edgar and with a forthcoming First Aid course to follow.

Anyone wishing to join the Area 30 Academy can contact Co-ordinator Julie Hubbard at: julie@hubbardandson.co.uk or British Showjumping Development Officer Chris Shaw on chris.shaw@britishshowjumping.co.uk.

Chris commented, “Junior Academies are a fantastic way for young riders to meet with each other, receive expert Coaching and take part in a varied range of activities including social events and forum sessions on a wide variety of subjects. In addition, the NAF 5 Star Training Awards which in the near future will operate via the Junior Academies provide the basis for developing skills and knowledge in aspects of horse care, stable management and riding – with a recognised award to aim for”.
