BOLESWORTH SUPPORT BRITISH SHOWJUMPING AT AN INTERNATIONAL LEVEL

It is with great excitement that British Showjumping can announce that Nina Barbour and her team at Bolesworth have committed to assist the sport at International Level by running an FEI CSI 3* Show between Thursday 12 – Sunday 15 June next year.

With prize fund in excess of £120,000 across the four days of competition the news will be as warmly received by those competing in the sport as it will be by those delivering the performance pathway strategy all of whom were acutely aware of a need for additional top level shows being required on home soil. World Class Performance Manager for Showjumping Rob Hoekstra reaffirmed this in his response to the news by saying “We have been in desperate need for more international shows within Great Britain. It is only by introducing more shows of this calibre into our own competition schedule that we can ease the pressure riders currently have on them to be continually travelling abroad to compete at this level.  With shows like Bolesworth coming on board it enables our top tier riders to compete at home and educate their horses without the added pressure of travel. It also allows us to give as many of our up and coming riders international competition experience.   It goes without saying that it also enables the performance team to assess each individual horse and riders development first hand, within one environment and on a level playing field”.

Bolesworth International will run a full spectrum of international classes allowing riders  to accrue World Ranking points.  Alongside these there will also be two rings of national classes ranging from 90cm through to 1.30m.    This innovative approach to embracing all comers at such a prestigious event was a focus that Nina very much wanted to introduce with a view to inspiring athletes of the future.  “I wanted to assist the sport in the best way I can to ensure that I have played my part in Showjumpings continuing success at International Level.  I am hoping that the top riders will see this as a benefit to them on a personal level as it is a show that they can compete their established competition horses in whilst also competing their younger and less experiences horses at the same time.  In addition to this, we will be raising the standard of our hospitality and entertainment during the event, to ensure that we look after both our International competitors, their owners and our corporate partners to the highest standard possible.

In addition to the international and national classes the event will also be used as a Viewing Trial for riders hoping for inclusion on some of the British Youth Teams.

On her thoughts for the show and it’s long term objectives, Nina commented “I am extremely excited about our show developing into such a key international event for Great Britain. We are absolutely committed to taking the sport forward to the highest level at Bolesworth and we see the Bolesworth International CSI 3* as an important first step towards this goal.   Our focus is now on ensuring we have weather proofed the site to the best of our ability bearing in mind the uncertainty of weather conditions that go hand in hand with running outdoor events.  We have already started work on the grounds and I hope to soon be announcing not only the schedule and the key classes contained within but also our plans for developing the competition areas further”

Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping furthered “British Showjumping is enjoying a revival both in terms of its success and popularity and one of our key objectives have been how we now build on this and continue developing medal winning teams of the future.  Part of the focus to deliver this has been centred on the need for more international shows to be introduced into our competition structure in the UK.  Nina’s motivation and backing to deliver  for the sport is something that we are extremely grateful for and we will be working as closely as possible with both herself and her team of show organisers to deliver the event to the best of everyone’s ability”.
