Equiyd National Amateur Second Rounds at Muirmill Equestrian

The Equiyd National Amateur Second Rounds began last weekend at Muirmill Equestrian Centre in South Ayrshire, which hosted the 85cm, 95cm, 1.05m, and 1.10m qualifying classes. Riders competed for the chance to secure a place at the Equiyd National Amateur Championships, taking place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool from 11–16 November. The top eight horse-and-rider combinations in each class will qualify, provided they deliver a clear round in the first stage of their qualifier.

Nine of the starting field in the 85cm second round managed to negotiate a first round clear over the 12-fence track designed by Lee Roebuck with three going on to complete with nothing to add from the jump-off. It was East Lothian based Kim O’Loan with her own 13-year-old mare, Wrens Cleopatra, who took first place in an unbeatable time of 31.17 seconds. Ramsay Benson was the next closest competitor, finishing in second place with Nevada T, 0.84 seconds off the pace whilst Miah Shaw picked up third place with Trust Me Charlie, finishing a further 2.16 seconds in arrears.
