CSI2* Chard and CSI2* Wellington, Heckfield to both run this spring

Due to the uncertainty regarding sport resumption in Wales, the FEI CSI2* Chepstow show which was due to run at the David Broome Event Centre between the 30 April – 3 May 2021 has been cancelled and the dates relocated to Chard Equestrian.

The Chard International show which will incorporate CSI2*, CSI1*, CSIYH1* & CSIAm-A classes will run across the same dates at Chard Equestrian in Somerset.  Due to this change the Prestige Italia Big Star 6 year-old qualifier which was due to run at Chard Equestrian on these dates will now be rescheduled to run at Bicton Showground between 8 -  11 July.  The Area Trial which was due to run at the same time has been rescheduled to their 12 – 18 August summer show.

Jane Gregory, proprietor and show director of Chard Equestrian said “I’m obviously very disappointed for the Broome family at having to cancel but also very excited at the opportunity of being able to run our first FEI event.  Having six weeks rather than six months to prepare is a bit daunting but we are committed to ensuring  all competitors have an enjoyable and memorable experience in what I hope will be the first international of many”.

James Broome, Show Director at the David Broome Event Centre said “We have been in ongoing discussions with the Welsh Government regarding the ability to run outdoor shows and it goes without saying that we are extremely saddened at being unable to run.  However, we are also pleased that Jane Gregory was in a position to pick up the dates for Chard Equestrian so that members would still have the opportunity to compete at international level on home soil.  As a family we wish Jane and her team a successful show and also wish all competitors taking part the very best of luck.”

Wellington Riding in  Hampshire will also be running the Wellington, Heckfield International CSI2*, CSI1*, CSIYH1* show between the dates of 19 May – 23 May 2021 giving members the opportunity to have an additional FEI show date in the calendar just a fortnight later.

Iain Graham, Chief Executive of British Showjumping said “I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Jane Gregory from Chard Equestrian and David Sheeran from Wellington Riding for their support and for giving our members the opportunities that they are. ”

For riders wishing to enter either of the shows please be reminded that you will need an up-to-date horse and rider FEI registration to compete, further information on which can be found here.  Entries, once the schedules are available, can be made by emailing the performance team at performance@britishshowjumping.co.uk
