The first qualifying show for Aintree is almost upon us!

Following the July announcement of the new indoor Championship Show at Aintree Equestrian Centre, we trust that everyone is now looking forward to qualifying for their respective Championship Finals.

The Aintree Indoor Championships, which will be playing host to many of the most popular national finals, takes place between the 7 – 11 October 2020 and the first qualifying show for it commences before the month end.

All Second Round and Direct Qualifier classes are scheduled to take place at shows running between the 28 August – 27 September.  A full list of Finals being contested across Junior and Senior series can be found on the link at the bottom of our previous news statement here .

Please note that the Wales & West qualifier show has been cancelled following the announcement by the Welsh Government last week that they would not be lifting their COVID-19 lockdown measures for at the least the next three weeks in respect of outdoor events.  It is hoped that there will be an opportunity to reschedule the show however should this not be possible additional qualifying places will be offered from the shows that have been able to run.  The announcement regarding the cancellation of the qualifying show at Wales & West can be found here.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone the very best of luck in their chosen qualifiers and to say that we look forward to seeing the final championship winners awarded at Aintree.  Earlier this year, it looked highly unlikely that any of the second rounds and direct qualifiers would be able to take place and to see them now upon us along with a Championship Venue at Aintree Equestrian Centre in place to allow for the Finals to be contested is the result of an outstanding achievement by everyone  concerned.

Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping said “Without the commitment and huge level of support from our show organisers, sponsors, officials and of course our members who have returned to the sport with such energy and drive, it would have never have been possible for it all to come together in the way that it has during these unsettling and unprecedented times.  We are unable to express our thanks and appreciation enough to everyone involved in making this happen.”
