NUMBERS TO QUALIFY: A MAXIMUM OF 24 RIDERS WILL QUALIFY FOR THE 2017 FINAL AT THE LONDON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW, OLYMPIA (OLYMPIA)
Only those riders eligible to compete on a Great Britain Showjumping Team are eligible to compete in the Final.
The five riders that represent Team GBR at the 2017 European Jumping Young Rider Championships will qualify by right: Further horse/rider combinations will qualify, based on points accumulated from the horse/riders combination’s best four results from the qualifiers, so that the total of qualified rider/horse combinations, including the Young Rider horse/rider combinations, does not exceed a maximum of 21. In case of equality of points horse/rider combinations will be separated by giving preference to the horse/rider combination with the greater number of first place classifications; in case there is still a tie the number of second place classifications will count and if necessary the number of third place classifications and so on until the required number of horse/rider combinations are not tied. If the horse/rider combinations for the last qualifying place/places are not able to be decided in this way i.e. they have the same profile, then the place/places go to Wild Card selection. Horse/rider combinations may compete in as many of the Qualifiers as they wish but only the horse/rider combination’s best four results will count towards qualification for the Final.
In addition to the maximum of 21 horse/rider combinations qualified through the above process 3 Wild Card qualification places will be awarded. The number of Wild Card selections will be increased only if required to fill the quota of 24 places at the final. The decision on the Wild Cards will be made by the World Class Programme Performance Manager for Showjumping, where this concerns a rider under 21 years of age on or after the 1st January in the same year as the Final, in consultation with the Chef d’Equipe for the Junior and Young Rider European Team, 2017.
Points towards qualification will be awarded to each horse/rider combination according to their placing in each of the qualifying competitions as follows:
1st - 40 points, 2nd - 30 points, 3rd - 25 points, 4th - 20 points, 5th - 15 points,
6th - 10 points, 7th - 8 points, 8th - 6 points, 9th - 4 points, 10th - 2 points
Horse/rider combinations placed equal will share equally the total points attributable to the combined placings (for example, four riders placed 4th equal receive 20 + 15 + 10 + 8 divided by 4 = 13.25 points each).
