Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifier at Bicester & Finmere Show

The seventh Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C qualifying competition took place on Saturday 11th August 2012 at Bicester & Finmere Show in Oxfordshire and the competition attracted entries from over 70 eligible horse and rider combinations, all hoping to claim their Championship Final qualification.

The Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C qualifier was heavily contested and the class saw riders gather from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Championship, which will be held at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) on Sunday 7th October 2012.

From the total number of entries, 67 combinations started in the competition and 13 went clear in the first round to make it through to the final jump off. With only three direct qualifying places available, all of the remaining combinations were hoping to produce a double clear to put them in contention for Championship Final qualification.

With six combinations producing the all important double clear, the three direct qualifying places were taken by those who produced the fastest times. The overall winner of the qualifier was 22-year-old Daniel Moseley from Worksop, Nottinghamshire and he won the class aboard eight-year-old bay mare, Billy Bella, owned by Denise Stamp. Daniel produced his double clear in a time of only 41.47 seconds to clinch the win and secure his place in the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Championship Final.

Second place went to Carl Curtis from East Riding, North Humberside. Carl rode Robert Young’s eight-year-old bay mare, Crespa. Carl brought the mare home clear over the jump off course in a time of 41.59 seconds to clinch a qualifying spot for the Championship Final.

Carl also qualified his second ride for the Championship Final. Carl produced his second double clear in a time of 43.63 seconds on board seven-year-old black gelding, Bonito R, also owned by Robert Young.
