Carron Nicol proves her might as First Lady in the National Ladies Championship Final

The ladies took centre stage this evening in the Andrews Bowen Indoor Arena as they fiercely contested the National Ladies Championship in style.

There were twenty-six competitors in contention for the title ensuring the class delivered exciting competition.

Carron Nicol fom Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire riding her own 10 year-old bay stallion Mr Visto took the title with an impressive double clear and a time of 39.02 seconds. Carron gave a great demonstration of skill and technique to win the class in such a competitive field.

Carron has already had great success at this year’s British Showjumping National Championships and Stoneleigh Horse Show, which is taking place at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre, Stoneleigh for the very first time.

“I’ve had an unbelievable Championships so far, having won the National 4 Year -Old Championship – Prelim 1 today [with Fantaland] and the National 1.30m Open Championship yesterday [with Moonraker]. He [Mr Visto] won The Oxford Area Trial on Sunday at Addington Manor, but I’m lucky he has lots of energy for the rest of the Championships.”

Second place was awarded to Julie Andrews from Preston, Lancashire aboard Eva Bjorkman’s Ayrton IV who challenged the winning combination with an exciting jump off. Julie was the only other rider in the class to jump a double clear and kept the pressure on the competition until the final moments of the class.

Tomorrow will see the equally exciting counterpart to this championship take place, also in the Andrews Bowen Indoor Arena, with the National Gentleman’s Championship Final.
