Lily Freeman-Attwood secures Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round win at Arena UK

It was a bumper weekend at the Arena UK Pony Premier in Grantham, Lincolnshire with ninety-six competitors from all over the country attending to contest the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round.

Each rider was aiming to secure one of the two Horse of the Year Show tickets on offer for this October’s Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final which lead to an action packed two rounds of jumping over Mark McGowan’s course until it came down to just six combinations going head to head in the final jump off.

Fifteen year-old Lily Freeman-Attwood from Shrewsbury, Shropshire secured her place in the final jump off on board Emily Freeman-Attwood’s 6 year-old bay gelding, Capability Brown. This pair gave a strong performance in the jump off, with one pole becoming a casualty of the technical course before they crossed the finish line in 43.44 seconds with four faults to take top spot.

Second place went to 16 year-old Madison Jamison from Blackburn, Lancashire riding Sweepstake, an 8 year-old bay gelding owned by Nicola Jamison. The partnership finished in a time of 38.95 seconds with eight faults.

The riders and ponies that finished in third to fifth took home the chance to compete in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
