Sarah Trevelyan Secures Place in Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship
Tuesday 21 July 2015
Sixty-seven combinations contested the last Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Rounds on Sunday at Kingswood Equestrian Centre in Albrighton, Wolverhampton and it was Sarah Trevelyan and Loose Woman who proved to be victorious.
Each rider was hoping to produce a treble clear in order to pick up a qualifying place for the Championship Final, which will run during next month’s British Showjumping National Championships at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. In a twenty-eight horse final jump off, an impressive fifteen treble clears were eventually produced.
Sarah, who is based in Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, produced the fastest treble clear on board her own 9 year-old bay mare, Loose Woman. The combination jumped at the midway point in the final jump off and produced a convincing round to dominate the top of the leaderboard for the remainder of the class. Their time of 34.05 seconds gave them nearly two seconds in hand over their nearest rivals.
Commenting on her win, Sarah said “I am really pleased with ‘Rosie’s’ performance; we missed the chance to qualify last week when she had a pole down, but this week, all of our hard work has paid off. It was a really nice course today, the jumps came thick and fast and were technical but Rosie likes these type of courses and she jumped fantastically.”
Second place was secured by Rebecca Hanlon from Harvington, Kidderminster with her own 7 year-old grey mare Calcourt Luxurious. They produced their treble clear in 36.03 seconds to secure their place in the line-up and also the Championship.
Peter Shaw from Tarporley, Cheshire took third place on his own 6 year-old bay mare Gabor II following their third clear round, which was produced in 36.54 seconds.
Fifteen combinations from this second round now go forward to the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final.
