Tahnia Jordan-Jones wins again at the British Showjumping National Championships

After some exciting preliminary rounds this week the National 138cm Championship final was set to be a show stopper and it did not disappoint. With  twenty-nine competitors vying for the title the atmosphere was alight.

With the fences raised to an approx. 1.20m height the course promised to challenge each combination. However, it was the red oxer that proved the most difficult with many having the rail down.

Four riders managed to triumph over the course and move on to the jump off. The jump off saw the competition hot up as the atmosphere became intense.

Tahnia Jordan-Jones (13) from Swindon, Wiltshire had two rides through to the jump off  -Thyme Flies a 13 year-old bay gelding owned by Anastasia Snook and Oakhurst In The Spotlight. Thyme Flies was the first to go with a disappointing 12 faults and a quick time of 33.62seconds. However Tahnia still had another shot at the title.

Next to jump off was Madison Jamison (14) from Knuzden, Blackburn riding  her mother Nicola’s 12 year-old bay mare Misty Bay II who delivered the first double clear with a time of 36.18 seconds. Imogen Marmont (13) from Shrewsbury, Shropshire was next into the arena on her mother Vanessa’s 19 year-old grey mare Hot Prospect II. Imogen had an unlucky rail down with a time of 37.18 seconds.

Finally stepping back into the arena for the second  time was Tahnia this time riding Oakhurst in the Spotlight a 14 year-old appaloosa gelding owned by Michelle Poole. The tension was high as Tahnia skilfully took on every challenge to finish with a clear round and a time of 34.04 seconds, cementing  her as the new Champion.

This wasn’t Tahnia’s first win of  the Championships, she also won the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Masters yesterday riding Sulan Hollywood Knight. “It is just the best thing ever. It’s quite a surprise because I took the Foxhunter aswell. It’s just amazing I took two titles” said Tahnia.

Tahnia also said “It’s really good because the owner of the pony, Michelle Poole, is quite ill, it’s good I can dedicate this to her, she is really proud of the pony”. Tahinia has been riding Oakhurst In The Spotlight for one year and this is to date their biggest win together
