Dodson & Horrell 85cm and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds at Wellington Equestrian Centre

Wellington Equestrian Centre was the only venue to hold the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds on Sunday 30th September. With competitors targeting their place in the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool on 13-18 November 2018.

Dodson & Horrell 85cm National Amateur Second Round

18 year-old Hannah McDonald from Cuxham, Oxfordshire had her eyes firmly set on the top spot in the Dodson & Horrell 85cm National Amateur Second with Go Spirit.

Nearly one-third of the initial thirty-nine starters made it through course designer, John Farrell’s eleven-fence track to make their way to the jump-off but no one could catch Hannah, the only rider to break the forty second barrier. Hannah guided Go Spirit, her own 10 year-old bay gelding, to victory with 2.42 seconds to spare.

Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round

Samantha Baker from Horsham, West Sussex claimed her ticket to the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Finals with Leesa Long’s Tammy’s Girl.

Eleven of the thirty-nine starters progressed to the jump-off with Samantha who fought off her rivals with the Irish-bred 15 year old Tammys Girl; a horse she only been competing for five months.
